James Alfred Pearce (1804-1862) practiced law in Chestertown, MD from about 1829 until his death in 1862. During that time he also served six years in the U.S. House of Representatives and nineteen years in the U.S. Senate. This account book, which covers the years 1873-1884, tracks the legal practice (primarily estate administration) he conducted while serving in Congress. Records judgements, estate administration, real estate, business matters, etc. List of local and business clients recorded with legal action taken for them. |
